Amphora Cremation Urn - The basic design of
the amphora is based upon one that has changed little since the
Classical times of the Greeks and the Romans. It is slender near the
base, swelling in a gentle curve as it rises, before swiftly
narrowing towards the neck.
The amphora has a timeless quality
about it, as if symbolizing that it is in fact beyond the very reach
of time. The cap is also deceptively simple, with a narrow rim which
rises through a slender waist before again flaring out again to a
domed, even top.
The urn itself is colored a rich
purple, a vivid color, having qualities of both warmth and majesty.
From ancient times, this has been the color of honor, nobility, and
dignity.
As Keats has touched upon in his ode to
Melancholy, purple reminds us that only those who have tasted of the
bitter trials of the world, the sadness and grief within every life,
can reach true joy and true happiness. From his words, “Only those
who strive can burst Joy’s grape”, this amphora symbolizes both
the struggles of life and the joys the living have enjoyed.
The regal purple urn on closer
examination, appears to be made up of interwoven threads of varying
hues, ranging from creamy white through light lilac and to a deep
mauve. This creates a pleasant illusion of a flowing stream of light
and space, of the many interwoven threads that makes up a person’s
passage through time.
This is a glass urn that at first
glance is attractive by its simplicity, in its pure elegant lines.
Upon closer examination, it opens itself up and reveals its deeper
and more subtle pleasures.
At 11”x6” this violet urn can hold
190 cubic inches. This is usually enough for a person or pet
weighing up to 190 pounds before cremation.
Top loading design makes it easy to
safely place the cremains into the urn. Also can easily be sealed
with an adhesive.
